Buying a new speedglas 9000 with a 9002x shade (?) Not sure what the 9002x means though. 150.00 + shipping. I already committed to it as I didn't have alot of time to debate it.

In the beginning of a change, the patriot is a scarce man, brave hated and scorned. When his cause succeeds however, the timid join him , for then it costs nothing to be a patriot.

Don't know about how good a deal it is but give us a review on it as I need a good helmet cheap. I have terrible eye sight (diabetic) and want a good auto darkening that will hold a cheater lens.

know what you mean Charley, ny eyes are bad too, I bought the cheater lens when I purchased my miller elite
really didn't care for the cheaters, even made my welding worse then what it was
so I purchased a set of drug store reading glasses to wear under the hood
that work very well for me (but everyone is different - and each there own)

I guess I'm lucky. I can actually see better without my glasses at welding distance. I just have to be careful to remember where I put my glasses when welding because I can't see well enough without them to find them again![]()

gadget, dang it...... thats twice youve forced me to spit pepsi all over my keyboard.... to the OP: lowlife, the only experience ive had with 3m's hoods are my throwing them at a hole 20 ft away in a contest... they stood up to that abuse, so for sure they are rugged. either way, the way that i look at it, if you can find a big name hood like that for cheap, then you are 2 steps in front of the rest......

Cheaters work well for me, I have 2 strengths but my helmet is not made for them. They do not work well in conjunction with the magnifier glasses though. I just need a good helmet with a nice clean lens then either would work but cheaters are more convenient.

Stan,
To prevent further loss of Pepsi, I won't tell you about setting my glasses on a chair thinking I would remember them before sitting down (kneeling working on a PC). Needless to say the crunching sound reminded me where I put them when I sat down. Sorry guess I did tell you after all... I owe you a Pepsi.![]()
