    Carbon Fiber Elite

Just bought my Carbon Fiber Elite and it arrived today. Looking forward to giving it a test run tomorrow on a quick project for my brother.

I really like the fit. I can only compare it to the cheapo models at Harbor Freight, but the straps (including the leather covering), the knobs, etc were a much nicer make. It was comfortable, and of course it was great operationally on the quick project we had. My brother was lucky enough to wear my old HF helmet as a result.

I have this helmet too. It works pretty well but I ned to play around with it when I change from one type of welding to another. If I go from gas welding or mig to tig, I get flashed when I start the arc. Where do we get new cover plates for these? I'll keep looking but have not found a way to buy one on the site yet.

OK so after taking this helmet apart I realized there is no battery. I am getting flashed with almost every arc and can no longer use it. I thought the battery had gone bad but that clearly isn't the case. Any ideas on how to fix this or do I need to get a different helmet? It darkens but not until after I've been flashed. It's set on the most sensetive setting and on the quickest setting. Please help!

Any ideas guys? I have class tomorrow night and I'd like to have it sorted out by then. I couldn't weld at all in class last time due to the flash. I was so blinded from the initial attempts I couldn't even use a different helmet to weld. I was actually working on a personal project the instructor brought in and asked me to weld. It was embarassing walking up to him and telling him I couldn't do it.
