Will all of the lineup of auto dark hoods work with low amp tig welding? I have seen indications that unless there is adjustable sensitivity many auto darkening hoods won't go dark with the minimal light output welding thin gauge material.

TigWeld 200DX
Arcmate 160D
StickWeld 140
Forcecut 40D
I can't say they all work with low amps but my model does, it's the midrange model stars and stripes.
Units owned
Longevity WeldPro LS200PI (IGBT)
Force Cut LP80 plasma cutter
Longevity auto dark welding helmet
Atlas 10x36" lathe
Craftsman 5HP 30 Gal compressor

I have two hoods, both are mid price range, and they work very well for low amps TIG welding.

They should be fine, what you do have to think about before buying a helmet, is whether you grind with your helmet down or wear safety glasses and just flip the hood up to grind.

the real deal with low amp tig and auto hoods is the places that the sensors are at.... i use miller's elite digital hoods simply because they employ 4 arc sensors instead of the common 2... most all hoods will sense low amp tig, none will sense it when you are out of position and have them covered up.... just sayin....

I posted a video of my helmet in action a long time ago Jon. You can find it here Longevity helmet video
If you pause it when the video goes to the internal controls you can see the two adjustments and what they do.

+1 with what sic said a 4 sensor hood for low amp tig is where its at ...the 2 sensor hoods are junk in my book unless you are doing in position mig stick welding
My personal choice for a auto dark hood would be a jackson nexgen 4 sensor
