AVATARS and SIGNATURES - How do I avatar?

I've been trying to add an avatar to my file and all I get is that it is an invalid file or something of that nature. I guess one reason I need help is that until coming to this forum I didn't even know what an avatar was, I'd seen them but didn't know what they were called.
Trying to find one that would work of a school bus pic, I've found some pretty cool ones that came up when I Googled school bus avatar but can't get it to work. It won't accept it

    Larry,
the file has to be a gif or jpg and be 100X100 pixels in size or smaller. If this doesn't help let me know, I will assist tonight after work.

According to the control panel where you upload your photo...
The maximum size of your custom image is 80 by 80 pixels or 19.5 KB (whichever is smaller).
Best thing to do is find the photo you want and if it isn't the right size open it in a photo editing program and resize it to comply with the size restrictions.
It is harder to resize an animated gif file unless you have the proper program.
I am sure Dan will get you squared away but if I can help you with editing I have plenty of software for that kind of stuff.

    Wally,
I was thinking that I had changed the max size to 100X100 but I guess I didn't. 80X80 should be big enough anyway. Thanks for clearing up my mistake.

All right, let's see if I did this right. No I'm not listing all the equipment I own, because let's face it, I have way too much crap.

    Don,
Find an image you like any image can be made into an avatar, it should be about 80X80 pixels (that's about the size of mine). If you find one a bit larger it can be resized. Send it to me through Simon or Jessie (tell them to send it to me) and I will get it posted for you.
Alternately, you can find the image and post the link here, I will grab it and post it for you.

Find an avatar? where do you look and once you find one, how do you send it? you guys are over my head...wanna talk about 6010 6013, or 7018, now i can handle that, but AVATARS??? what position do you use and which rod for that position, ok..how do you get better penetration, how do you prevent inclusions, stainless, aluminum, mild steel??? ok...AVATARS...no way can I discuss that...
