Are you adding them to the Gallery or trying to put them in a post? What is the size of the pictures? Are they jpg files or something other than that? It may be the file format or size is not accepted.

I was trying to post a picture in the cutting table thread.
So, I'm in advanced, I click on manage attachments.
The file upload manager window comes up.
click add files, and I get the little select file window.
click select files, and I get to browse thru files on my computer.
I open a file and it appears in the window.
I click upload files and the progress bar goes across the file.
when it is finished. this is when I get the red circle with the exclamation point.
and then the only option that is given is, clear list.
They do not drop into the manage attachments area that lets you insert them.
I can upload pictures that I have already uploaded before but not any new ones.
I tried uploading almost identical pictures of things that I have uploaded before and they wouldn't work either.
They were all jpg., the last one I tried was 190.7kb

    Nicholas,
It slipped my mind about the photos. I've been out of town but am back now. I'll get a message to the developers again. I just tried a reboot of the server but as I suspected, it didn't help.

Simon is working with VBulletin to get the issue resolved. I don't have a time frame for it though
