Logged in twice today and both times had to go through the "forgot password" routine. But I didn't forget it... Also, I noticed in the projects section, some pix show up, some have the little pic thing and some don't show at all. Still part of the fixin' it stuff?
Oh yeah, my danged avatar disappeared. Do I need to upload him and my pics again? At least now I know what an avatar is...

The developers have had to reenter most everything again. Avatars so far, are not linked so feel free to upload them again. Also, if your post images aren't there you can reload them. Hopefully the little speed bump on the way to a better forum will not reoccur. I think a backup routine will be put in place as well.

Actually, nearly all of the pics in Welding Projects and Pictures are missing. None of mine are there and I checked a bunch of others and most are missing or only have that little "whatever.jpg" thingy. However, the avatar settings finally let me reupload my avatar whereas when I wrote my whiney post, the avatar setting was only about half there. The half with the button selected that told it no avatar. Whew. Hm, in "Previewing Post", it appears that pesky little avatar is still playing games. So, if he ain't there, he should be cuz I tried to reupload him and thought I was successful. Maybe not...

OK, did some research: reuploaded a pic of that little tile table I made in the projects area. Now the post has the "whatever.jpg" thingy and if you click on it, then you see it open up. Just thought maybe this info would help you guys. If not, what the heck are ya still reading this for?
Anyway....Glad you are back up. Missed you guys!

Hi Guys,

There are some nice features in the new forum site. I have a request, however regarding pictures in posts.

In the previous forum and in the early trials of this forum pictures were visible as part of the post, usually just below the text. Now we can add a picture as an attachment or as an embedded picture (within the post text) from a link to another web site.

Although the IT guys usually like this arrangement, because it cuts down on bits being transmitted, it is not as interesting to read and be able to see the pictures associated with the text without clicking on the link for the pictures to appear.

Can we compromise here? We can limit the size of the pictures associated with the post either in size or dimension if that would help. It just makes it better in my opinion when I can see the text and picture together without extra clicking.

One way to keep from repeatedly transmitting the pictures (which we have already looked at) is by using the option to have the posts/threads list with newest on the top of the list and the older posts further down.

I made an adjustment to the image display. See if that works like you would expect. I checked some of Strube's images that were links before and they are now displaying inline as they should.

Is that a real word "reuploaded"? Anyway, that's what I did. And I got rid of a couple HUGE ones I accidently sent up and replaced with appropriately sized replacements. Gotta remember that size issue. I have never made anything that was worth having to scroll all over the place to see it!
