    past and future projects

    Hi all,
I thought I would share one of my past projects and a preview of one of my planned projects.
I build a his and hers set of bikes in 1996 using gas torch welding. I have over 6000 trouble free miles on mine. Unfortunately, my wife doesn't like hers so it hasn't gotten much use.

The next project will be built from aluminum. I hope to start construction soon. Here is what it should look like when done.

    Fred,
I purchased the windshield. It wasn't cheap either, around $200.00. Now I know how to make them so the next one will be custom made.

    windshield

you can take plexiglass and form it with heat,I used my electric stove burner,
and also made windshields for aircraft, and motorcycles ,used a wood mold, and plaster of paris ,and a heat gun, drill holes(1/4")3" apart in the mould and connect a vacuum to them as needed to suck the plex to the mould,I got a little blurring at some spots, but not bad for the price.I've got a picture of the one I made for my motorcycle,I will try to unload it!

I always thought it would be fun to try to build /chop some bicycles and fab into things that I used to see when I was a kid ( born 1951 ). I used to see these bikes where the frame was upside down or others where the frame was about 4 ft. in the air. Of course there was the extended forks, steering wheel for handlebars etc. The frames were all steel then and you pretty knew what you were welding. It would be difficult to put things together these days unless you could find some old frames. Anybody ever do this or have rererence to ideas ?

The two wheel recumbents above were made from cut up bikes. Two for each unit. I had to add two longer bottom tubes though.
