a local concrete forming company took on a job of providing jersey barriers (the lil concrete dividers you see on the sides of freeways). they came to us to build a one of a kind mold system (yeah, patent pending on this puppy).... the molds pour from the top and skin upwards (meaning ya lift the mold off the forms) there is a 5 ft x 20 ft sheet of 1/2 inch under the form and the mold binds down on the plate to hold the concrete in.... double mold, means 2 forms per and that translates to 18,000 pounds of concrete inside the mold. the skins (mold plates) are 3/16, the gussets are 1/4, the frame is 6 inch standard channel, doors are 3/4 with a 1/4 inch skin. We had to make the tubing for the door guides... i wrote a check to my steel supplier for 27 thousand dollars just to buy steel for this job! the job was built with thermal 250I machines and miller pro-300's and there are ALOT of pics starting with just steel... my lift wouldnt handle the 12 sheets of 5x20 half inch, so the customer handled them at their place, we have 1 in the shop to set up a fixture on...
