    Fix that Park Bench

    Many years ago, my wife came home with a couple of park benches. They were fine for a couple of years, but then it seemed like every year or so, I was spending part of my spring refinishing the splintery slats. So recently I replaced the slats with expanded metal, no more wood to weather, maybe an occasional squirt of flat black, but simpler and stronger.
    Okay they are a little heaver, but they don't move very often..........!

    That looks much better than the wood slats. I'll bet it's more comfy too.

    OKAY! But bring your own newspaper for covers!! Wife is talking about making some pads for long term setting, so you don't end up with grill marks.

    Looks great.

    It'll make it a lot harder for the wasps to hide underneath it as well. (Ask me why I care about this concept... -_- )

    i have this same exact bench sitting on my front porch. been there for the last 16 yrs. or so. still has the wooden slats . looks pretty good in metal though.
